Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American singer and musician is best known for her musical talents. She was the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live in concert and act as a host at the ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is both the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London in London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. Then she moved into Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an amazing career in recording and performing. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for a number of years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year later. Alongside performing at all of the largest venues as well, she is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. She also published Bapi The love of my life in 2002. It is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared on Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and will surely be other things to be expected from this talented woman. Anoushka spent a lot of her time in London and Delhi during her young years. Later, she moved to California to finish high school. At the age of nine, she started studying music with her father making her performing debut on the sitar four years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad on his world tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, as well as recording together with George Harrison. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of the Asian Arts.
